Wizard of Oz Defined

"A children's story wherein the problems of capitalism are set forth in allegorical fashion and the objectives of socialist revolution are personified by the characters of Dorothy (the search for social relatedness), the Tinman (a quest for love and compassion), the lion (a search for courage and dignity), and the Strawman (who sought insight, understanding and wisdom). The Wicked Witch of the East was meant to be capitalism; the yellow brick road was meant to symbolize the gold standard and tight money policies; the silver slippers (not ruby) were symbolic of loose money policy and The Wizard of Oz symbolized any humbug of a politician who could only give the people what the people could produce themselves."
